COMFORTDELGRO PUSHES UP GREEN QUOTIENT WITH EURO 5 TAXIS ON TRIAL

30 November 2012 - More super-green cabs are hitting the streets with two Euro 5
Hyundai i-40s being launched as part of a trial by ComfortDelGro Taxis today.
The latest additions to the ComfortDelGro fleet of 16,300 taxis come just two months after the Company rolled out over 110 Euro 5 limousine cabs. Another eight Euro 5 Hyundai i-40 taxis are expected to be rolled out in January next year. With that, over four-fifth of the Group's taxis in Singapore will be environmentally friendly.
The trial, which will last for at least six months, will evaluate a variety of factors, including fuel efficiency, comfort, noise and safety levels, as well as the general ease of maintenance.
The Euro 5 Hyundai i-40 taxi that emits about 159g carbon dioxide per 100 kilometres, qualifies for rebates under the Land Transport Authority's Carbon Emissions-Based Vehicle Scheme (CEV), which replaces the existing Green Vehicle Rebate from January next year. It is able to achieve a fuel efficiency of 16.7km/litre under optimal conditions. Though smaller in size to other Comfort taxi models, the i-40 has ample head room and leg room, as well as a boot big enough to accommodate up to three standard golf bags.
Said Mr Yang Ban Seng, ComfortDelGro CEO (Taxi Business): "Other than reliability, fuel efficiency and comfort, one of the key determinants we use in choosing which taxi models to bring in is the Green factor. We will continue to explore newer and Greener models for
the comfort of both our drivers and their passengers."
