FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - Long-time Commerzbank manager Marcus Chromik is to become the new Chief Risk Officer at Deutsche Bank. He will take up the post on May 20, 2025, the DAX-listed company announced in Frankfurt. Chromik succeeds Olivier Vigneron, who had announced that he would not be renewing his expiring contract.

Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing praised Chromik as a respected risk manager. "His experience will help us to further strengthen our risk management at a time when the global economy is facing major challenges."

Chromik, who holds a doctorate in nuclear physics, began his banking career in 2004 at Postbank, which is now part of the Deutsche Bank Group. In 2009, he moved to Commerzbank and took on various management positions there. He left Commerzbank in 2023 after eight years as Chief Risk Officer. Most recently, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the major Italian bank Unicredit, a position he resigned from when he moved to Deutsche Bank./als/DP/jha
