The war in Ukraine has prompted UniCredit (UCG.MI) and Commerzbank AG (CBK:Xetra) to postpone their merger talks. The banks had been discussing a potential merger earlier this year. However, the war has put an end to such discussions.
A potential tie-up of UniCredit's German arm, HypoVereinsbank with Commerzbank was expected by analysts.
