Compañía Cervecerías Unidas S.A. announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was CLP 469,994.586 million compared to CLP 318,375.948 million a year ago. Operating income was CLP 36,408.150 million compared to operating loss of CLP 9,396.213 million a year ago. Net income was CLP 18,967.863 million compared to net loss of CLP 3,256.656 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was CLP 51.33 compared to basic loss per share from continuing operations of CLP 8.81 a year ago. For the half year, sales was CLP 1,039,634.041 million compared to CLP 829,608.864 million a year ago. Operating income was CLP 135,116.193 million compared to CLP 60,429.957 million a year ago. Net income was CLP 83,351.734 million compared to CLP 28,977.868 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was CLP 225.58 compared to CLP 78.42 a year ago.
Compania Cervecerias Unidas S.A. is a diversified beverage company operating principally in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay. The Company operates as a brewer, soft drinks producer, water and nectar producer, wine producer and pisco distributor. The Company's segments include Chile, International Business and Wine. The Company carries a portfolio of products, which includes a range of brands of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer, with Cristal as its primary brand in Chile. In addition, it produces and distributes Heineken beer; distributes Sol beer and Budweiser beer, and distributes and produces Kunstmann and Austral beer in Chile. The International Business segment includes operations in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. The Company, through Vina San Pedro Tarapaca S.A. (VSPT), produces and markets a range of wine products for the domestic and mainly the export market.
