Reopening of Gómez Palacio plant

February 2, 2021

Compañía Minera Autlán, S.A.B. de C.V. (Autlán) informs that its ferroalloy plant, located in Gómez Palacio, Durango, has temporarily resumed its operations under continuous evaluation of the steel market performance.

The Gómez Palacio Plant specializes in the production of silico-manganese, which is used as a raw material for the manufacture of steel. With a production capacity of 33 thousand tons per year, the plant did not operate during 2020 due to the hard conditions in both the national and international steel market, a situation that deteriorated even more by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result of the recovery signs shown by the market in recent weeks, Autlán committed in the supply of the growing demand of manganese ferroalloys. The Gómez Palacio Plant will complement the production of Tamós and Teziutlán Plants, which have run continuously.

In order to protect our collaborators, the Gomez Palacio Plant started operations following a protocol that is already implemented in our other locations and that stays in line with the preventive measures against COVID-19.

Autlán is a Mexican company with worldwide recognition for the quality and specialization of its products, strategic supplier of minerals and manganese ferroalloys. We generate value for our shareholders, staff and clients using the experience, the best available technology and future development projects as part of the values and growth of the company.
