In order to help decarbonize the construction sector, Saint-Gobain Glass has integrated a carbon footprint calculation tool into its CalumenLive glazing configurator.

CalumenLive is a free professional tool (available in 13 languages) to configure a glazing solution while calculating its technical performance (luminosity, energy, transmission, acoustic protection).

In order to improve the advice about sustainable glazing solutions for customers, architects, consultants and partners, Saint-Gobain Glass has just added a new module to estimate the CO2 footprint of any type of glazing. This new feature is available with the latest update of CalumenLive.

The possibilities of Saint-Gobain glazing compositions are immense: coated glass, tempered or laminated glass, assembled in double- or triple-glazing. This is why detailed knowledge of all the characteristics of the glazing chosen is crucial to making the right choice. In addition to energy, light and acoustic performance, the tool also offers a new data point: The Global Warming Potential estimate (calculation of the warming linked to the various greenhouse gases expressed as the equivalent quantity of CO2 per m2 of glazing).

The data is available for European countries and covers the cradle-to-gate part of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). These estimates are based on the latest Saint-Gobain Glass Environmental Statements[1].

Saint-Gobain Glass has been a pioneer in Environmental Declarations for over 10 years and is now making a further commitment to product transparency by enabling all its partners to find the best glass for their needs and for the planet.
