UPDATE ON THE COVID-19AND ITS CONSEQUENCES
Press Release
Paris, 13 March 2020- Compagnie des Alpes is carefully monitoring the development and spread of the COVID-19 on a day-to-day basis in France and Europe, in both its leisure destinations and its ski areas. The Group's main priority and concern remains the health of its visitors and employees.
In France, Compagnie des Alpes manages two sites that are currently open: Futuroscope and Grévin Paris. Following the presidential address of Thursday 12 March and in order to effectively combat the spread of COVID-19, in a spirit of responsibility and national solidarity, the Group has decided to close these two sites from Monday 16 March to Sunday 29 March inclusive. Parc Astérix and France Miniature are scheduled to open on 4 April. Walibi Rhône-Alpes will open next 11 April. Decisions to open these sites will be taken in accordance with the recommendations of the public authorities.
In Belgium, the Federal Government has indicated that public places should be closed and remain so until 3 April. Compagnie des Alpes is applying by this decision and is closing its two water parks which have remained open to date: Bellewaerde Aquapark and Aqualibi. As its two other sites (Walibi Belgium and Bellewaerde) are not set to officially open until next 5 April, the decisions to open these sites will also be taken in accordance with the recommendations of the public authorities.
In Switzerland, in accordance with the Government's request, the Chaplin's World site will remain closed until 30 April.
The five sites affected (two in Belgium, two in France and one in Switzerland) traditionally generate less than €3.7 million in revenue in the second half of March.
Its other parks, in the Netherlands (Walibi Holland) and Austria (Familypark) are not due to reopen until the beginning of April and the group will adopt the same decision-making process.
Finally, as regards ski areas, Compagnie des Alpes is in daily contact with the competent authorities at the regional and national levels. To date, no decision has been made to close any areas and therefore all 11 sites are open.
