RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Brazilian retailer GPA said on Thursday that it had agreed on an up to 5.2 billion reais ($943 million) deal with wholesaler Assai for it to buy 71 of its Extra Hiper cash and carry stores.

GPA said Assai had agreed to pay 4 billion reais between December 2021 and January 2024. Additionally, GPA said it had agreed to sell 17 of its properties to a real estate investment fund backed by Assai for 1.2 billion reais.
