Here's the breakdown: first place gets $4,000; second place $2,500; third place $1,000; fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers reel in $500; and seventh through 10th win $250. All prize money is guaranteed.first place gets $4,000; second place $2,500; third place $1,000; fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers reel in $500; and seventh through 10th win $250. All prize money is guaranteed.

Proceeds from this year's tournament will benefit Advocate Children's Hospital. A child's stay at the hospital can be scary, unpredictable, and stressful. With the proceeds from this year's event, Advocate Children's will be launching a virtual reality program using KindVR. KindVR creates customized virtual reality support and distraction for various procedures, coping with hospitalization, and pain management.

"We truly appreciate being chosen as this year's 'Fishing for a Cure' beneficiary," said Advocate Children's Hospital Vice President of Development Doug Hutchings. "With the proceeds from the event, our Child Life, Creative Arts Therapies, and Education department will be able to launch the KindVR program. This will have a great impact on our patients and their families."

Even though the pandemic prevented the event from taking place in 2021, 'Fishing for a Cure' volunteers were still able to raise funds, netting $32,000 for the Northern Illinois Food Bank and the Braidwood Community Care Center. Since 2002, the tournament has raised more than $700,000, which has gone to a variety of charities and non-profits.

"Fishing for a Cure is our facility's signature event, one that demonstrates our commitment to the community and helping those in need," said Braidwood Station Acting Site Vice President Greg Gugle. "We are excited to be hosting this fun-filled event once again and look forward to raising money for this significant cause."

The tournament will start from Braidwood Lake's Kankakee Road (South) Ramp. The entry fee is $150 per team with all proceeds, including 100 percent of all tournament entry fees, going to Advocate Children's Hospital. Rules, entry forms, fact sheets and sponsorship opportunities are available on Constellation's website.
