HOUSTON (AP) _ Coterra Energy Inc. (CTRA) on Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $62.7 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had profit of 16 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 52 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 53 cents per share.

The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $440.4 million in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $641.7 million, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $651.3 million.
