Leading mixed-tenure developer Countryside is very pleased to announce the signing of the option agreement for its latest promotion, located at Fairoaks Airport in Surrey. Countryside's proposals aim to deliver approximately 1,600 homes, of which 640 will be affordable.

Countryside is promoting the allocation of the site through representations on the draft Surrey Heath Local Plan and the vision for the scheme is to create a beautiful and sustainable new community where people will be proud to live, with early plans placing community and greenspace at the heart of the design.

As an integral part of the new community, and in addition to providing 1,600 homes, Fairoaks will feature a network of green and blue infrastructure, including a plethora of green open spaces, children's play areas, the creation of 52 hectares of Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG), whilst also ensuring the retention and protection of high-quality habitats.

Much-needed community facilities have also been incorporated into the scheme. A sports hub including multi-use playing pitches and a pavilion building, a primary school, a local centre with retail and community facilities, as well as an employment area of approximately 10 hectares, all contribute to the lifestyle offering for both new and existing residents in the area.

Fairoaks will promote greener forms of travel. Cycle links and footpath connections to the wider area will be introduced alongside a 'Mobility Hub' providing a focal point for public transit options, active travel, EV charging and other complementary uses. Infrastructure works will involve building a new spine road between the A319 and A320.

The signing of the option agreement is an important milestone in the promotion. Key consultants for the scheme include Savills, DAC Beachcroft, Barton Willmore now Stantec, Cratus and Vectos.

Martin Leach, Managing Director, Strategic Land and Major Projects, Countryside said:

'The signing of the option agreement marks a significant milestone for Fairoaks. The vision for this development is to create a new, sustainable community in Surrey, designed with modern living in mind. We remain committed to delivering much needed infrastructure and community facilities that support local residents and help create places people love.'
