Volunteers from Countryside, the UK's leading mixed- tenure developer, spent the day taking part in Martin House Children's Hospice's annual Dragon Boat Race at Roundhay Park, Leeds.

As part of our purpose to build homes where people love to live, we work with a focused aim of positively impacting the wider communities in which we operate through a variety of local initiatives.

Recently, nine Countryside volunteers took part in Martin House Children's Hospice's annual Dragon Boat Race at Roundhay Park in Leeds. Taking place over one day, the event, which is a unique team-building activity and family fun day, raises vital funds to support hundreds of children and young people across the region.

It was a very respectable middle of the league table finish for the Countryside team, who raised an amazing total of £1,050 for the fantastic cause. The money raised from fundraising events such as this, enables Martin House Children's Hospice to provide family-led hospice carefree of charge for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

Chris Penn, Managing Director, Yorkshire, Countryside, commented:

"It is great to see our employees taking time to volunteer and make a real difference to local communities. At Countryside, we feel it is important that our employees utilise their charity days and support important causes that affect the lives of people in the regions in which we operate. We hope that the rewarding work demonstrated by these nine volunteers encourages more of our team to find ways to get involved and show their support to local organisations"
