Leading mixed-tenure developer Countryside has donated 30 children's book to Hainault day nursery and All Saints pre-school near its Oaklands Hamlet development in Chigwell to help boost young learning post-covid. Designed to provide additional resources for local nurseries, the book donation aims to encourage reading at a young age with a range of new and interesting books with a focus on kindness to reflect the post-pandemic sentiment.

Countryside has been working in the area for numerous years and with two major development schemes Oaklands Hamlet and Edge, the company has always been keen to engage with the local community on the issues that matter to them the most. Recognising the impact Covid-19 has had on young children attending nurseries during a critical stage of learning, Countryside wanted to partner with local nurseries closest to its schemes to help support children's learning and development.

Chris Bladon, Managing Director, Eastern Home Counties, Countryside, said: "Oaklands Hamlet is a family-led housing scheme centred around the ethos of building communities and it has always been important for us to support families in the area. Many young children missed out on valuable early learning during the pandemic so we could not think of a better way to encourage reading than through donating to our local nurseries interesting new books with a focus on kindness and wellbeing - values which have become so important over the last two years."Gemma Witchell, Nursery Manager, Hainault Day Nursery, commented: "The children thoroughly enjoy reading the new books and connecting it with their props and puppets to visualise the story. We are delighted to see the children engaging in stories that helps improve their early learning and creativity, so important for their development at this age."Amina Ali, Nursery Manager, All Saints' Pre-School, added, "We greatly appreciate Countryside's donation to our library. The children really appreciate the introduction of these interactive new books to their daily story time, and we are certain that it will encourage them to develop their vocabulary and creativity."
