Countryside, the UK's leading mixed-tenure developer, in partnership with Latimer, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group - the UK's largest provider of affordable housing - has secured reserved matters consent for the second phase of Ashmere, a landmark scheme on the former Eastern Quarry, part of Ebbsfleet Garden City.

Comprising 235 new homes, of which 25% will be for affordable housing tenures, residents will have a choice of houses and apartments, with private sale, shared ownership and affordable rent homes available.

In keeping with the garden city concept, Ashmere Phase 2 will also deliver extensive green open spaces including a neighbourhood green, landscaping and play area - promoting a healthy, safe and sustainable lifestyle for residents.

Due to complete fully in 2033, Ashmere is being delivered in collaboration with landowner Henley Camland. The partnership is also proud to be working with Ebbsfleet Development Corporation to deliver their vision for the Garden City.

Andrew Usher, Managing Director, Partnerships South London, Countryside, commented: 'This is another key stepping stone in our journey at Ashmere, as we curate a sustainable and closely-knit community in a flourishing area of Kent. Working closely with Latimer, we have no doubt that Ashmere will prosper, serving the needs of the community for generations to come.'Richard Cook, Group Director of Developmentat Clarion Housing Group, said: 'Working with like-minded partners who share our commitment to placemaking is at the heart of what we do. We're excited to be working with Countryside to create a vibrant and thriving new neighbourhood at Ashmere.'

Ashmere is set to become a new sustainable neighbourhood, ultimately comprising 2,600 mixed-tenure homes, as well as a new primary school and a village centre.

Set against the dramatic white cliffs synonymous with Kent, a country park, a lake and expansive green open spaces will weave through Ashmere. With excellent road connectivity and the HS1 to London St Pancras only taking 17 minutes, Ebbsfleet is extremely well connected both locally and internationally.

Ebbsfleet is not only a great commuter belt destination; it's becoming its own thriving, sustainable community. In line with the 2035 vision of Ebbsfleet, up to 30,000 people will work in a green, modern environment around the international station, which is becoming a magnet for economic growth and a destination of choice for investment and innovation.
