Crawford & Company's learning and development (L&D) program is going from strength to strength in Australia, where six internal training courses have won landmark accreditation and Crawford's Australia Graduate Academy program has been expanded.

Crawford provides training courses for both employees and external clients, offering over 300 hours of continuing education and having completed more than 133,000 online courses to date across the group.

We are pleased to announce that six two-hour instructor-led courses in Australia, delivered by Crawford's Australian L&D Team via Microsoft Teams, have been accredited by the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA)and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), and will now contribute two points towards ANZIIF's Certified Insurance Professional points requirement.

'This is a first for the industry and we are already exploring opportunities to add more courses to the accredited list and further expand our L&D program,' says Nicola Roberts, Learning and Development Consultant, Australia.

Crawford is also delighted to welcome a second intake to its two-year Australian Academy Graduate program. 'Crawford & Company Australia launched its first graduate program last year and, due to its success, we were requested to launch it again,' Nicola explains.

Skills for the future

Investing in talent is a top priority for Crawford. Our L&D programs are designed to develop the skills and careers of our employees, helping us attract and retain talent while continuing to improve the quality of our claims handling service.

'Our remit as adjusters is ever-expanding in response to evolving customer demands and new technologies - and this demands an ever-expanding skills base,'

Nicola says.

This means developing traditional loss adjusting expertise as well as feeding in skills from other sectors - particularly in areas such as cyber, forensic accounting and tech roles - to help bolster our ability to deliver for our clients.

At the same time, the battle for top adjusting talent continues to intensify. 'There is pressure to foster new talent, attract the next generation and restock what is at risk of becoming a depleted talent pool,' Nicola says.

'At Crawford, we not only want to attract talent, but also make it stick. That's why we are investing time, money and resources to support the growth of every member of our team.'One key promotion is Amanda McNamara who has been appointed Technical Trainer. Amanda will bring her experience as a loss adjuster to our L&D program and she will be committed 100 percent to the program.

Crawford takes a multi-channel approach to talent development, attracting experienced practitioners into our ranks while also developing talent internally and promoting wherever possible from within to ensure a robust succession pipeline.

'We also capitalise on the wealth of experience across our organisation to help new or junior members choose the right career path and rise up through the ranks via our comprehensive mentoring and development program,' Nicola says.

'We play such a critical role in helping to restore and enhance lives, businesses and communities in the aftermath of often devastating events - and having the right people in place with the right skills, understanding and quality of support is always our top priority.'
