ZURICH (AP) _ Credit Suisse Group AG (CS) on Thursday reported a first-quarter loss of $278.5 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The bank, based in Zurich, said it had a loss of 11 cents per share.

The bank posted revenue of $9.92 billion in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $8.37 billion, which beat Street forecasts.

Credit Suisse shares have fallen 19% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 34% in the last 12 months.
