Ms Graeff joins from the European Central Bank with substantial experience in communication and relevant experience in banking and people management. She brings a unique combination of entrepreneurial success, seasoned communications expertise, public policy experience and people skills, acquired in an international setting over the past 25 years.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Rohner and Mr Gottstein said: 'We are pleased that Christine will join Credit Suisse. She is an internationally recognized expert with an excellent track record. She brings sound experience and credibility with our stakeholders, which will be essential as we relentlessly pursue our strategy of being a global leader in Wealth management with strong Investment banking capabilities.'

Ms Poschung highlighted: 'Christine will play an essential role in the alignment of Credit Suisse's strategy with our common objective of best-in- class client orientation. To that effect, we need to leverage our full potential, ensuring a consistently aligned approach between Human Resources and Communications, which Christine will deliver with her passion for both people and communication.'

Ms Graeff will report to Urs Rohner, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Thomas Gottstein, Chief Executive Officer, for the Corporate Communications function, and to Antoinette Poschung, Global Head of Human Resources and member of the Executive Board, in her Human Resources role. She will join the bank January 1st, 2021.

Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Ms Graeff has been Director General of Communications at the European Central Bank since 2013. Previously, she was Managing Partner in the strategic communications firm, Brunswick, where she set up and developed the Group's German business, with a particular focus on the financial sector. Prior to that, she was at Burson-Marsteller in London. She started her career as an investment banker at Kleinwort Benson after graduating from the European Partnership of Business Schools, where she studied European Business Administration. She was awarded an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University in 2015.

Ms Graeff heads the board of trustees of Frankfurt's English Theatre and serves, amongst others, on the boards of the Frankfurt opera and the Quadriga University of Applied Sciences. She was recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
