Lesley Streatfield (60) was looking to downsize from her three bedroom home in Tring, Hertfordshire when she discovered Shipston Gardens, Crest Nicholson's development in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, and bought a two bedroom semi-detached property with the help of the stamp duty holiday.

Lesley, who runs her own business as a graphic designer and works from home, comments: 'With my son now living and working as an architect in London, I didn't need as much space anymore but still wanted to be within commutable distance to the city for when he comes to stay, or I go to visit him. I was also looking to get more value for money. For the cost of a one bedroom home in Tring I was able to purchase a two bedroom property at Shipston Gardens, while saving a few thousand pounds by taking advantage of the stamp duty holiday.'

Situated in the quaint market town of Shipston-on-Stour and just six miles from Moreton-on-Marsh station, which offers direct services to London Paddington in under an hour and a half, the development is the ideal location for Lesley. She comments: 'I love living in such a picturesque market town with all of the local amenities including a bank, post office, hardware store, green grocers and butchers. It's really nice having those shops nearby, while being only a short drive away from larger stores, like Waitrose, and surrounding towns such as Stratford-upon-Avon.'

Shipston Gardens boasts two, three and four bedroom homes with excellent specifications and fully fitted integrated appliances throughout. Lesley comments: 'Extras like carpet and white goods ticked a big box for me as it saved me the time and effort of having to shop around.'

With an open plan kitchen-dining room and flexible living spaces, Lesley says her new house provides all the room she needs. She comments: 'I love how spacious the bedrooms are and my beautiful new garden, which has plenty of sun and shade, whilst there's room for me to work from the living room. The property also has two parking spots and great kerb side appeal with a black iron fence. From the start, it has felt so homely and relaxing, and I'm so glad to be here.'

A friendly neighbourhood community was also a driving force behind Lesley's move to Shipston Gardens. She comments: 'One of the reasons that I wanted to move onto a new estate was to find like-minded people with the same motives and incentives. Since moving into my new home, I've made some good friends across the development, and we've got together for drinks in the garden. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming.'

Lesley adds: 'The whole process with Crest Nicholson was fantastic. I found the sales team very friendly and helpful and would thoroughly recommend them.'

With limited home remaining, prices at Shipston Gardens start from £385,000 for a four bedroom, with SmoothMove and Part Exchange available on selected properties. To find out more please call 01608 433600 or visit
