YARDLEY, Pa. (AP) _ Crown Holdings Inc. (CCK) on Monday reported third-quarter profit of $214 million.

On a per-share basis, the Yardley, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of $1.59. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.96 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.60 per share.

The packaging company posted revenue of $3.17 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.06 billion.

For the current quarter ending in December, Crown expects its per-share earnings to range from $1.22 to $1.27.

The company expects full-year earnings in the range of $5.65 to $5.70 per share.

Crown shares have climbed 13% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $82.16, a climb of 22% in the last 12 months.
