Recently, two CKD8F mining locomotives made by CRRC Dalian for export to South Africa arrived at the mining site, and will start ore transportation operation soon. Prior to that, after close to two months of ocean shipment, the locomotives arrived in Durban of South Africa. As customs clearance process and the subsequent railway transportation arrangement were completed in advance, the two locomotives successfully made their debut that was witnessed by the owner's representatives and the South African railway safety engineering team.

The CKD8F diesel locomotives can be used in trunk line passenger and freight traction, with a track gauge of 1067 mm, power of 1715kw, and a maximum operating speed of 100km/h. The project is CRRC Dalian's another practice of business development in the South African market; more importantly, it is the first independent negotiation, bidding, contract signing, delivery and after-sales service completed overseas by CRRC Dalian's overseas subsidiary, Dalian South Africa Company, thus it is of milestone significance.
