CTS CORPORATION Lisle, IL - CTS Corporation (NYSE: CTS) has been awarded grant funding for the 'Development of New Crystal Compositions with Improved Properties' from the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The total multi-year funding amount is over $1.5 million. The award will enable CTS to develop the next generation piezoelectric single crystal materials.
CTS is the global leader in the development and commercialization of PMN-PT and PIN-PMN-PT piezoelectric single crystals. Both crystals have been widely adopted in premium medical ultrasound imaging probes enabling 3D ultrasound technology and next-generation underwater sonar transducers. To further expand the penetration of PMN-PT based piezoelectric single crystals beyond medical imaging into higher-volume applications in the defense and industrial markets, applicable properties of PMN-PT based single crystals need to be improved. The ONR award provides CTS the opportunity to further develop the next-generation crystal compositions with desired properties for targeted market penetration.
This project builds upon CTS' expertise in the successful development of legacy PMN-PT and PIN-PMN-PT single crystals. CTS continues to improve its leading position in single crystals commercialization and global market penetration.
