Daimler AG said Tuesday that ride-hailing provider StarRides--a joint venture between Daimler Mobility AG and Geely Technology Group--has launched its service in Chengdu, China.

"Since its start in December 2019, StarRides has achieved growth in both registered users as well as daily active users with numbers increasing by an average of 80% on a monthly basis," the German car maker said.

Chengdu is the third Chinese city where StarRides is now providing its service, after Hangzhou and Guangzhou, Daimler said.

StarRides will start with 100 vehicles in Chengdu and aims at increasing its fleet to 200 vehicles by the end of 2020, Daimler said.
