• Allgäu Akademie Wild GmbH trains drivers with the S 515 HDH from the Setra TopClass range
  • BAZ professional driver training centre receives S 415 LE business bus

Stuttgart/Bad Wurzach. 'Allgäu Akademie Wild GmbH' in Bad Wurzach and 'BAZ Berufskraftfahrerausbildungszentrum Kepp' in North Rhine Westfalia's Bergkamen teach trainee drivers in buses from the Setra TopClass and MultiClass range.

With the help of a new S 515 HDH at Allgäu Akademie Wild GmbH, trainee drivers can familiarise themselves with state-of-the-art driver assistance systems from the very start of their training. These include the anticipatory cruise control 'Predictive Powertrain Control' (PPC) with topography detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Attention Assist and the world's first emergency braking system for buses.

For company owner and driving instructor, Peter Wild, the top-quality technical equipment in the Setra TopClass touring coach is the basis for sound training: 'In addition to the practical driving exercises, it is important that trainee bus drivers are proficient in all of the systems that will continue to be used with increasing frequency. And that is possible thanks to the Setra.'

Investment in precarious times

The air conditioning system on the 51-seater S 515 HDH bus is equipped with the latest active filters. The system developed by Daimler Buses features an anti-viral functional layer and filters out the finest of aerosols from the air, thereby reducing their concentration. The three-axle vehicle is also used by the Academy for further training courses on efficient and safer driving, for tourist trips and rental purposes.

Omnibusbetrieb Wild, a bus transport operator, started using Setra buses in the 1960s. Seven years ago the long-established company merged with the Wild driver training school to become Allgäu Akademie Wild GmbH. The modern training centre is situated in Bad Wurzach. This is also the location of the new touring coach that Peter Wild has invested in despite the Covid-19 crisis: 'For me it is important to act anti-cyclically and to look ahead. One thing I know for sure: bus travel will soon take off again.'
