WASHINGTON (AP) _ Danaher Corp. (DHR) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $2.23 billion.

On a per-share basis, the Washington-based company said it had net income of $2.99. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $2.87 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.46 per share.

The industrial and medical device maker posted revenue of $8.37 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $7.64 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $7.21 billion, or $9.66 per share. Revenue was reported as $31.47 billion.
