Danone SA said Thursday that it could be forced to cut approximately 1,850 jobs globally, including 458 in France, as part of its Local First adaptation plan.

The French food company said the number of planned job cuts is "in line with estimates" set out in November 2020, when it said its shift from a category-led to a local organizational model could lead it to cut between 1,500 and 2,000 positions in local and global headquarters.

An initial meeting with French trade union representatives in France took place Wednesday for Danone to outline its Local First plan.

The company also presented a sales-reorganization project specific to France as it aims to "generate growth thanks to better allocation and synergy of cross-category resources," it said in a statement.
