Danone SA said Thursday that it would invest 100 million euros ($114.2 million) in its specialized nutrition segment in China.

The French food company said the investments include the opening of a research center in Shanghai, as well as the acquisition of infant-milk formula brand Murray Goulburn Dairy (Qingdao) Co Ltd from Saputo Dairy Australia Pty Ltd.

The investment will also benefit the further development of the offerings of Danone's food for special medical purposes, the company said.
