Datwyler now relying on e-trucks
News, 09. August 2022

An e-truck from Uri just recently transported Datwyler products from the Schattdorf site to western Switzerland for the first time. This represents yet another step in Datwyler's efforts to promote sustainability along the entire value added chain.

Datwyler's customers, like Datwyler itself, are in the global spotlight, aspire to embrace their environmental and social responsibility and set ambitious targets. Thanks to its core competencies, Datwyler can assist its customers in these efforts. The Datwyler plant in Schattdorf has already been producing in a climate-neutral manner since 2012, thanks to its use of green electricity from hydropower and process and heating energy from a nearby wood-fired heating plant.

Datwyler also just recently began to rely on more environmentally friendly transport. Wipfli Transport is the first logistics partner in Uri to deliver Datwyler products by e-truck. Zgraggen Transport will follow in fall 2022 as the second logistics partner in Uri to use e-trucks. Long-term order commitments allow Datwyler to create impetus to promote innovative, long-term investments and developments among Uri's transport companies.

E-trucks on the road for Datwyler.

Over 300 tons of carbon savings per year (#)Anchor

Several trucks drive for Datwyler from Schattdorf to western Switzerland and back every day from Monday to Friday. The e-trucks now used for this route run on electricity from hydropower and together save a total of around 120'000 liters of diesel per year. That will enable Datwyler to reduce its carbon emissions for transport by more than 300 tons every year. It also means the collaboration between Datwyler and its two logistics partners from Uri has a positive impact on the eco-balance of its customers' value added chain and contributes to achieving the United Nations' climate targets.
