(Alliance News) - Simon Hunt is the new CEO of Campari, appointed yesterday by the shareholders' meeting, as Il Corriere della sera writes Thursday.
With a British passport, he is the first chief executive recruited from outside the company. Hunt has a long career in the industry, having worked at Diageo, William Grant & Sons, and Catalyst Spirits.
As the newspaper explains, the path will not be easy: Campari has faced recent difficulties, including the acquisition of Courvoisier and the CEO handover. In addition, there are challenges in China and the U.S., where health authorities want labels on alcoholic beverages for cancer risks.
Hunt will focus on three strategic goals: streamlining the portfolio, focusing on high-growth brands, and improving efficiency, adds The Courier.
This should reduce costs and improve margins. Lagfin's ownership also announced the purchase of Campari shares to support the company.
