·Crussh Fit Food & Juice Bars launches a new super smoothie in collaboration with Debenhams offering busy shoppers an 'energy explosion'

New research by leading retailer Debenhams has revealed that on average, shoppers burn a total of 463(kcal) every time they go shopping, the same amount as an hour long aerobics class.

The research, which questioned 2,000 shoppers, shows that Brits spend 4 hours per trip (30%) browsing the shops, with over half of us (51%) visiting up to 5 stores in one visit. More than one in ten (11%) confessed to visiting 10 stores or more on each shopping mission to ensure they had checked out the very best offers on the high street.

When it comes to frequency of shopping, nearly 90% plan their shopping trips in advance with over two thirds (63%) visiting local high streets and shopping centres at least twice a month. While women on average go shopping 24 times per year, men frequent the shops nearly 30 times but spend less time browsing in comparison.

It's no wonder that after walking around 20,000 steps, 90% of shoppers said they felt weary after shopping. In fact, almost a third (32%) class a shopping trip on a par with exercise and even view it as a workout.

To help keep the energy levels high during the January sales, Debenhams has teamed up with fit food and juice bars, Crussh to provide customers with a new 'super smoothie' that has been specifically designed to refuel and replenish energy levels when shoppers need it the most.

James Kidman, Food Developer at Crussh said, 'With the sales in full swing, we wanted to create a great-tasting smoothie that keeps shoppers hydrated and energized.

'Our Blueberry Chia Burst Super Smoothie contains banana, blueberries, chia seeds, apple juice and low fat yoghurt and an 'energy explosion' booster made from ginseng and vitamin B5 - all great ingredients for boosting energy and enhancing brain activity. Chia seeds, eaten by the Aztec warriors for energy and power are very nutrient dense and super charge our smoothie.'

Sam Shutt, Head of External Business (Restaurants) said, 'It's great to see Debenhams work with food partner, Crussh to offer customers a healthy energy boost especially during the sales and after the festive period. This super smoothie is a great way for shoppers to rest and reload while out and about in the town this winter.'

The smoothie will be available exclusively at Crussh Fit Food Café in Debenhams Oxford Street store for just £4.50 from 26th December 2017.
