Delta people raised $1 million to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation - the culmination of committed fundraising efforts in 2020, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation included contributions from our colleagues, customers, friends and family members through our Carrying Us Closer to a Cure effort. The annual effort collects donations that fund critical research into cancer therapies and a cure. During the campaign many Delta people wear pink uniforms and collect donations onboard and online at delta.com/BCRF.

Allison Ausband, E.V.P. - Chief Customer Experience, presented the donation at the BCRF's Hot Pink Evening on May 20, which was held virtually. 'I am truly inspired by the dedication and support of the Delta people every year, but particularly last year where creativity was a must to generate money for this critical cause.'

Allison acknowledged the contributions of three flight attendants who raised the most in 2020: Anna Botha-Roberts raised $13,392. Robin Schmidt raised $3,874. Both are based in Atlanta. Doug Pincu, a New York-based flight attendant, raised $3,316.

'A special shout out to these flight attendants - their passion and determination to make a difference in the lives of others exemplifies the Delta spirit,' Allison said. ' Our passion for BCRF stems from our commitment to not only support each other, but also the communities where we live, work and serve each day. We are so thankful for all of our cross-divisional employees who worked tirelessly throughout the year to raise funds.'

Since 2005, Delta employees, customers and their friends and families have raised $20 million for BCRF. The collective contributions have funded the vital work of 80 different research projects over the years in the pursuit of eradicating breast cancer. Donations raised by employees will fully fund four BCRF research grants for the 2021-2022 year.

BCRF is a nonprofit organization committed to achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer. They provide critical funding for cancer research worldwide to fuel advances in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, metastasis and survivorship. Since its founding in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, BCRF has raised more than half a billion dollars for lifesaving research.
