ERFURT (dpa-AFX) - The trade union Verdi has called for warning strikes in the wage dispute with Deutsche Post on Thursday. Accordingly, employees in selected companies in the parcel and mail centers as well as in the parcel, mail and group delivery are to participate in the all-day actions nationwide, as Verdi announced. Last week's all-day nationwide strikes at mail and parcel centers had involved some 30,000 workers from Thursday evening to Saturday, according to the statement.

The union, citing high inflation, is demanding a pay increase of 15 percent for Deutsche Post AG's wage earners, with the collective agreement to run for twelve months. Training allowances are to be increased by 200 euros per month for each year of training. Collective bargaining is to continue on February 8 and 9./hme/DP/zb
