Communications services companies rose slightly amid deal intrigue.
Apple and Paramount Global are in talks to bundle their offerings at a discount in an attempt to capture more of the competitive streaming market, The Wall Street Journal reported. Paramount, which has been under pressure because of disappointing volumes of sign ups to its Paramount Plus streaming service, rose by almost 10%, trimming losses for the year to date to 8%.
Netflix shares fell amid fears that the partnership would constitute stiffer competition for its leading streaming service.
T-Mobile US rose to all-time highs as the onetime affiliate of German telecom carrier Deutsche Telekom's strategy to distinguish itself from larger competitors AT&T and Verizon continues to bear fruit.
