Deutsche Telekom AG (XTRA:DTE) is said to be preparing to launch a partial sale of its tower unit in the spring in a deal that could value the business at up to €20 billion ($ 22.54 billion), business daily Handelsblatt said over the weekend, citing sources familiar with the matter. The German telecoms major is reportedly open to offers for both a minority and a majority stake in the business. The unit that will be put up for sale includes DFMG Deutsche Funkturm GmbH which has more than 33,000 towers across Germany, Magenta Telekom Infra GmbH with about 7,000 sites in Austria and more towers across Europe that are owned by Deutsche Telekom. A valuation of €20 billion, including debts, would imply a multiple of 30 times the expected earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation. In 2020, the tower business generated revenue of €989 million and EBITDA after leasing costs of €587 million.
