Sabine Bothe to head HR at Erste Group and Erste Bank Oesterreich

09/27/2022 | 06:17am EST

Bothe takes on Head of People and Culture role as of 1 January 2023.

Experienced HR manager joins Erste from Deutsche Telekom AG

Sabine Bothe is set to join Erste Group Bank AG as the division head responsible for People and Culture, overseeing all Group-wide HR processes, projects and policies. At the same time, Bothe will be the new Head of HR at Erste Bank Oesterreich, Erste Group's Austrian subsidiary. She joins Erste from Deutsche Telekom AG, where she was most recently Senior Vice President responsible for global recruiting and HR development. In her dual role, Sabine Bothe will report to both Willi Cernko, CEO of Erste Group, and Gerda Holzinger-Burgstaller, CEO of Erste Bank Oesterreich. Bothe takes over the responsibilities previously held by Sabine Mlnarsky, who is leaving the Vienna-based banking group at her own request at the end of September.

'With Sabine Bothe joining us, we were able to attract an internationally experienced HR manager for Erste,' said Willi Cernko, CEO of Erste Group. 'We are absolutely committed to investing in the development of our employees - they are the very basis of our bank's future success. Sabine Bothe's experience will be of great help to us in building important competencies in digitalization, in dealing with the demands of new ways of working, and in expanding our operational excellence.'

Sabine Bothe has more than 20 years of HR experience in international and Austrian companies. Prior to her most recent appointment at Deutsche Telekom, she was at its Austrian subsidiary Magenta Telekom, where she oversaw staff integration in the course of the firm's merger with UPC and the adaptation of its work environment in the Covid era. Her earlier management experiences include A1 Telekom Austria, Compass PLC and Lufthansa. Bothe, who holds a doctorate degree in law from the University of Mannheim, has focused on recruiting, digital transformation, new work environments, leadership and HR development during the course of her career.
