Art for the neighbourhood: vibrant urban culture in Dresden

Deutsche Wohnen becomes a partner of the arts festival "Palais Sommer"

Berlin/Dresden, 27 May 2021. Deutsche Wohnen has become a new partner of Palais Sommer in Dresden. In doing so, the housing company is supporting the arts festival, which is financed solely by donations and sponsorship and will take place this year between 16 July and 22 August in the park of the Japanisches Palais in Dresden.

With its slogan "Culture for all", the Palais Sommer has developed since 2009, when it was founded, to become a popular and recognised cultural event for the people of Dresden and its guests. In addition to large concerts, there are numerous activities on offer, for example doing yoga together or painting in the park. Over the past few years, the festival programme has continually gained in scope and variety and has attracted an ever greater number of visitors. Moreover, by buying discount passes, visitors can buy some of the food on offer at reduced prices or can hire yoga mats, deckchairs and other things. Deutsche Wohnen is making such discount passes available to its tenants for the entire duration of the festival.

Patrick Hofmann is head of the Deutsche Wohnen Service Point in Dresden, which is located near the park of the Japanisches Palais at Pirnaischer Platz in Wilsdruffer Straße. As he explains, "For many years now, the Palais Sommer has been an established event in Dresden's varied cultural landscape. As part of the city community here, we are proud that we can make a contribution to what is a wonderful festival for all the people of Dresden. And we want this to be a special experience for our tenants too, which is why we are making discount passes available to them."

Supporting art and culture is part of the DNA of Deutsche Wohnen. This was demonstrated in Dresden, for example, by the company's involvement with the "cultural shop windows" event in December 2020, in which the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB Dresden) was supported with, amongst other things, cost-free commercial units onto whose shop windows digitised silent film footage was projected in unique screenings. Furthermore, a mural was created last year on one of Deutsche Wohnen's residential buildings in Dresden-Prohlis. The enormous wall painting entitled "Dresden Hero" was designed by the graffiti artist SLIDER, who is well known in Dresden.
