Diageo announces that the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has selected Diageo North America to enter into grant negotiations for up to $75 million.

The idea is to support the electrification of its production sites in Shelbyville, Kentucky and Plainfield, Illinois - with the aim of making both facilities carbon neutral by 2026 and 2028, respectively.

Diageo will partner with Rondo Energy to install batteries at its production sites and decarbonize manufacturing operations in Illinois and Kentucky.

' Thanks to President Biden's industrial strategy, the DOE is making the largest investment in industrial decarbonization in U.S. history. These investments will reduce emissions from these hard-to-decarbonize sectors and ensure that American businesses and workers remain at the forefront of the global economy', commented Jennifer M. Granholm, U.S. Secretary of Energy.
