Qt cross-platform application & UI development framework demonstrated with QNX OS at Embedded World (Hall 4, 4-408)

Nuremberg, Germany, February 25, 2014 - Digia has announced that the Qt cross-platform application and user interface (UI) development framework, under its Qt Enterprise offering, now supports the QNX® Neutrino® operating system 6.6, the latest generation of QNX Software Systems' OS technology.  This week, at the Embedded World trade show in Nuremberg, Digia is demonstrating an evaluation board running Qt Enterprise on the QNX OS as well as a demo based on the QNX CAR™ Platform for Infotainment. The company plans to introduce primary platform support for the QNX OS 6.6 in Qt 5.3, which is due in the second quarter of 2014.

The latest release of the QNX OS offers a wealth of new graphics, UI, multimedia, security, and power management capabilities, enabling developers to build mobile-class user experiences into embedded systems for markets such as healthcare, industrial automation, and in-flight entertainment. Many of these systems increasingly require intuitive and attractive user interfaces that deliver the level of performance and functionality now common in smartphones and tablets. Qt enables developers and designers not only to produce visually appealing ergonomic systems that benefit from native system performance but also to deploy them on multiple platforms with little or no code changes. This flexibility speeds the move from prototype to product, helps preserve development investment and significantly reduces time-to-market across a range of target platforms.

Grant Courville, director of product management at QNX Software Systems, commented, "We have a lot of experience with Qt and we are thrilled to work with Digia to ensure the availability of Qt Enterprise and associated support to our customers and partners. We have expanded our in-house Qt team and plan to further increase the contributions that QNX Software Systems makes to the Qt code base. We welcome Digia's close cooperation, which is illustrated by their demonstration of Qt on the QNX OS 6.6 on the day of its launch."

Juhapekka Niemi, VP, Sales & Marketing, Digia, Qt, added: "Qt and the QNX OS are leading technologies and successful in many of the same fast-growing application areas, including automotive. Combining the most advanced versions of development framework and platform will deliver productivity and performance benefits for developers and amazing user experiences for their end customers."

About Qt
Used by over 500,000 developers worldwide, Qt is a full framework that enables the development of powerful, interactive and platform-independent applications. Qt applications run native on desktop, embedded and mobile host systems, enabling them to deliver performance that is far superior to other cross-platform application development frameworks. Qt's support for multiple platforms and operating systems allows developers to save significant time related to porting to other devices.

Qt is created by developers for developers where making developers' lives easier is top priority. It provides an incomparable developer experience with the tools necessary to create amazing user experiences. Qt is platform agnostic and believes in making sure that all developers are able to target multiple platforms with one framework by simply reusing code. Qt gives freedom to the developer. Code less. Create more. Deploy everywhere.
