Dish Network Corp. said Wednesday it will collaborate with Qualcomm Inc. to build out its 5G wireless network.

Qualcomm's platforms will help Dish speed development and commercialization of its 5G network, the companies said. The collaboration will include work on a network compliant with open radio-access-network protocols, a framework that allows more interoperability of hardware from different manufacturers, Dish said.

Earlier this year, Dish acquired Boost Mobile for $1.4 billion, marking the company's entrance to the retail wireless sector.
