DMG MORI's production
completely CO2-neutral as of January 2021
DMG MORI aims to achieve carbon neutral operations in all its operation bases across the world in 2021.
DMG MORI AG, based in Europe, achieved carbon neutrality by offsetting the CO2 emissions from its business activities through the investment in sustainable and climate protection projects in 2020, which was certified internationally. In addition to Europe, we, DMG MORI set a goal to become carbon neutral in CO2 emissions from the entire manufacturing value chain including its own business activities and parts procurement across the world. The approach should make us possible to provide products which are carbon-neutrally produced throughout the whole process from parts procurement to shipment. From January 2021 on, all our machines to be shipped around the world with the "GREENMACHINE" mark.
For the reduction in CO2 emissions, we also have been making efforts such as the introduction of photovoltaic power systems; reduction in power consumption of office lighting systems and replacement with longer-life LED lights; and use of advanced heating, ventilation and cooling systems. At Tokyo Global Headquarters, we have shifted to the zero-emission electricity since April 2020, and it will be rolled out to other operation bases in the future. We also plan on installing wood gas combined heat and power plants in Iga Campus around fall 2021. DMG MORI will continue to proactively work on reduction in CO2 emissions.
DMG MORI will promote CO2 emission reduction throughout our supply chain as well as the carbon neutral initiatives in our business activities. We have long been optimizing the energy efficiency of its machines to reduce CO2 emissions by use of dedicated CELOS apps and consumption-optimized components such as LED lights, and through the recuperation of braking energy and intelligent control of units. We will consistently improve the energy efficiency of our products and support our customers achieve the highest energy efficiency at their premises.
DMG MORI advances the environmentally friendly production and further development of green technologies. Customers use our machines to produce highly innovative components, e.g. parts for wind power plants, hydroelectric power plants, fuel cells, or electric mobility. For many years, DMG MORI has built up specific know-how to support its customers worldwide. We seek to further contribute to the

The Japanese government has announced that it would become carbon neutral by 2050 and aim for decarbonization. Today, many countries and regions following Europe have made the declarations on carbon neutral. With the need for CO2 emission reduction growing globally, the demand for precision machines and technologies is expected to increase. Along with the CSR and ESG initiatives of the machine tool industry, DMG MORI will strive to achieve overall carbon neutrality by improving the accuracy and productivity of its products in an effort to contribute to the society.
