Today, Dollar General announced plans to accelerate pOpshelf store openings and operate up to a total of approximately 1,000 stores by the 2025 fiscal year end, including approximately 100 additional stores in FY 2022. The Company also announced the planned expansion into Texas with the first pOpshelf stores slated to open in the Lone Star state in early 2022.

'Throughout pOpshelf's first year, we've been very pleased by the customer demand for the concept's on-trend merchandise, price points and shopping experience,' said Emily Taylor, Dollar General's executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. 'pOpshelf is an integral part of Dollar General's innovative and long-term strategy as we continuously look for ways to best serve customers and diversify the relevant goods we offer. We're thrilled to announce our expansion plans today and look forward to bringing this differentiated shopping experience to additional communities in the coming years.'

In Texas, Dollar General plans to open its first two stores in San Antonio and McKinney by early spring. Additional stores in the state are slated to open throughout 2022.

Dollar General debuted the pOpshelf concept last fall and opened its first two stores near Nashville, Tennessee in late October 2020. At the end of their fiscal third quarter, Dollar General operated 30 pOpshelf stores in six states and 14 store-within-a-store formats, which combine the offerings of pOpshelf with DG Market. By February 2022, pOpshelf is on track to operate up to 50 stores, as well as up to 25 store-within-a-store formats.

Each store is expected to create up to 15 new jobs in a retail environment that brings the brand's mission of making shopping exciting and fun for everyday purchases and unique finds to life. Available positions are currently online at https://careers.popshelf.com/.

pOpshelf is also proud to partner with The Confetti Foundation to provide a fun birthday party for children spending their special day in a hospital, pediatric oncology clinic or hospice facility. Since last fall, pOpshelf and the Confetti Foundation's partnership have provided more than 1,700 children's parties, bringing a little fun and joy to patients and their families.

'Joy and delight are at the heart of the pOpshelf experience. What better way to bring joy and special memories to others than birthday celebrations,' said Denine Torr, vice president of corporate social responsibility at Dollar General. 'We are proud to partner with The Confetti Foundation and truly hope these celebrations bring a welcome distraction, positive memories and normalcy during a difficult time.'
