August may be National Dog Month, but cats are equally welcome to ride along with DG Private Fleet drivers as part of Dollar Generals' new driver perk. Starting this month, DG Private Fleet drivers may to bring one vaccinated dog or cat of eligible breeds in their cabs.

'As a company that takes employee feedback to heart, after hearing from our team that they would enjoy having a driving companion we're excited to offer our DG Private Fleet drivers with the opportunity to bring their dog or cat along with them in their cab,' said Ivan Reeves, Dollar General's vice president of supply chain human resources. 'We look forward to welcoming four-legged, furry friends to the team as their owners help supply our stores with the products that customers depend on us to provide.'

Pets must remain in the cab of the truck or leashed during any time outside of the truck while on Company distribution center or store premises.

Dollar General's Private Fleet continues to grow with top-of-the-line trucks available for Class A Commercial Drivers Licensed (CDL) drivers to join the DG Fleet team. Additionally, Dollar General is currently offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to be paid within employees' first six months of service for new members, and Dollar General offers a fully-funded program for all current store and distribution center employees interested in earning their CDL to receive on-the-job training.
