SEB's equity strategist Esbjörn Lundevall highlights six exciting stocks on the Stockholm exchange that he believes could soon turn upwards.
"On the stock market as a whole, I think it's a pretty exciting situation right now," Esbjörn Lundevall tells Placera.
"In March, there was quite a lot of optimism about what economic scenario we would get. Since then, expectations have been postponed. Contrary to what many thought, the second half of the year was worse than the first. This does not mean that the recovery will never come. It's probably more likely that it's just been postponed. And right now, the best guess is that 2025 will be a recovery year anyway," he says.
The first stock Lundevall points to is Atlas Copco, the favorite company in the engineering sector that tends to be a winner in an improving economy.
"Ironically, they are one of the highest quality cyclical companies that can handle tough times best. Even though things are still a bit shaky and miserable here in the near term, they will do relatively well," says the equity strategist.
He also singles out Swedbank, as banks are generally "too cheap", and Skanska and Securitas - two stocks expected to benefit from their US exposure.
If you want to be more risk-averse, then Volvo Cars and Dometic are recommended. In the case of Volvo Cars, Lundevall believes the stock "could probably go up a few hundred percent in a good scenario", while Dometic (which SEB has a buy on), also offers a fairly large upside. However, Lundevall points out that the risk is a bit too high in Dometic to highlight it as a favorite option.
