We were here for you 24x7 in 2020, and it showed in our day-to-day operations and our storm response. We connected thousands of new customers, completed 76 power station outages, and successfully responded to many major storms, including Hurricane Isaias, the 10th largest storm response effort in our company's history.

We invested in our electric transmission and distribution systems to ensure continued reliability and resiliency, developed several projects to help extend broadband into rural localities, and introduced 11 new energy efficiency and demand response programs.

Giving back to our communities is a fundamental aspect of our company. We contributed $48.5 million through energy assistance grants to nonprofits serving human needs, education, the arts and cultural institutions. We expanded our bill assistance program, EnergyShare, to $14 million. Our employees also volunteered more than 60,000 hours in 2020.

Following the social unrest in our country, we committed $5 million to nonprofits focusing on social justice and equality and to help rebuild communities. We also committed $35 million to advance higher education equity - $25 million in support of historically black colleges and universities and $10 million in scholarships for African American and other underrepresented minority students.
