Dominion Energy Inc. on Monday said the Virginia State Corporation Commission approved nine new solar facilities last week, the largest group of new solar projects for Dominion Energy Virginia customers.

Six of the new projects are power purchase agreements, the company said, adding it owns and will operate the other three projects. The nine projects will generate almost 500MW, the company said.

Ed Baine, president of Dominion Energy Virginia, said, "Our customers deserve reliable and affordable energy, and they also deserve a clean environment. These projects will help us deliver on that promise."

The company also said later this year it will submit an annual filing to the SCC seeking approval to build or purchase another large group of solar, wind and energy storage projects.
