INDIANAPOLIS - Duke Realty Corporation (NYSE: DRE), the leading domestic only, pure-play logistics property REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) in the United States, announces that it has earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the United States Green Building Council on five logistics buildings. LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building meets high energy efficiency performance standards, and the design, construction and operation are deemed to be environmentally responsible.
Duke Realty continues its commitment to investment in sustainability initiatives with its pledge to design and build every new development to achieve LEED certification. On April 20, 2021, the company was awarded the LEED v4 for Core and Shell Volume Program Precertification Level of Gold, a streamlined solution for achieving certification on future projects based on the approval of its building prototype.
The company's five most recent LEED certified properties are at: 9180 Alabama Street, Redlands, California, 1000 Logistics Way, East Point, Georgia, 110 Sunridge Boulevard, Wilmer, Texas, 150 Old New Brunswick Road, Piscataway, New Jersey, and Steel Run Logistics Center Building 1, Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
The 1,079,236-square-foot logistics building at 9180 Alabama Street, the 622,230-square-foot Bob's Discount Furniture distribution center at 150 Old New Brunswick Road and the 332,808-square-foot Building 1 at Steel Run Logistics Center each earned LEED Silver designations. The retail warehouse with 663,520 square feet of space at 1000 Logistics Way and the 431,630-square-foot facility distribution facility for Yokohama Tire Corporation at 110 Sunridge Boulevard building each received LEED Certified designation.
In each of these projects, Duke Realty implemented strategies designed to ensure environmentally sustainable construction and site development water savings, energy efficiency, and construction waste management. These strategies included: energy performance optimization, the use of renewable energy sources and the implementation of high-efficiency HVAC and ventilation systems, indoor and outdoor water use efficiency and reduction, sustainable site development to minimize environmental impact, construction and demolition waste management, including storage and collection of recyclable materials to eliminate disposal in landfills, green vehicle accommodation; and indoor environmental quality management.
