Our energy and heart drive a better tomorrow

EDP develops its activity in 29 markets, with employees from 56 nationalities, and is increasingly diverse in experience and cultures. Today we are a global company, aligned under a single purpose and committed to empowering and respecting our people, while providing a better tomorrow for current and future generations.

In 2015, the United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 was defined, consisting of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since then, countries, companies and civil society have been challenged to define concrete strategies

and measures that promote sustainable social, economic and environmental development.

There are several SDGs that aim to respond to issues related to diversity and inclusion - gender equality, age and intergenerational relations , minorities, inclusion of people with disabilities, dialogue and religions, affective-sexual orientation and economic conditions and development. It is necessary to achieve these goals for a more peaceful, fair, and inclusive future.

For EDP, diversity and inclusion play a decisive role in this path, not only related to basic human rights, but also in terms of our ability to progress, innovate and fulfill our strategic objectives as an organization.

In this context, we are committed to achieving 30% female representation in general and in leadership positions by 2025. In recent years we have progressed at this level, with 27% female representation currently in our workforce and in leadership positions.

We also remain focused on attracting and retaining talent through inclusive processes, promoting an equitable and people-centered experience, as reflected in the inclusion of EDP in the Bloomberg Gender- Equality international index .

In this sense, this Plan for Gender Equality 2022-2023 includes a set of initiatives that must be continuously applied, reflecting the active, transforming and decisive role that we intend to play in the development of a more just and egalitarian society.

EDP and a sustainable future

The year 2020 will not only be marked by the entry into a new decade. It is the decade, according to the United Nations, for the Restoration of Ecosystems, a reference to the importance of combating climate change, halting the collapse of biodiversity, improving the living conditions and subsistence of people around the world.

In line with this urgency, EDP also presented a Strategic Plan 2021- 2025, which reinforces the ambition to lead the energy transition, with the goal of becoming a 100% green company by 2030.

This plan is based on a strategy of 1) Accelerated and sustainable growth, with a 2) future-proof DNA and with 3) Attractive returns and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) excellence. This is a new positioning materialized in the new global signature of the brand - Changing Tomorrow Now .

Thus, our new strategy, more than goals to achieve, is an affirmation of who we are as a company - leading the energy transition to create superior value, so this year we restructured our brand with a new image and a new purpose - "Our energy and heart drive a better tomorrow".

Our vision

EDP is a leader in the energy transition, having anticipated and accelerated the transformation of the sector and presenting an unparalleled track record of executing and delivering its ambitious plans.

This initial move towards renewable generation has placed EDP in a unique position to pave the way for a new sustainable and increasingly electric world.
