("EDP Brasil" or "Company") (BM&FBovespa: ENBR3) informs its shareholders and the market in general that the Cachoeira Caldeirão Hydroelectric Power Plant was authorized today by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) to begin the commercial operation of the second generation unit with an installed capacity of 73 MW (Physical Guarantee of 41.5 average MW), anticipating by 7 months its operational start-up compared to the beginning of the CCEAR (regulated environment agreement energy sale agreement), scheduled for January 1, 2017.

With the Declaration of Commercial Operation (DCO), the energy of the anticipated operation will be sold in the short- term market or may be sold through contracts.

The GU03 generation unit, with installed capacity of 73 MW, is in advanced stage of commissioning for the obtaining of testing and commercial operation.

The Cachoeira Caldeirão HPP is located at the Araguari River, in the estate of Amapá, with 219 MW of installed capacity and 129.7 average MW of physical guarantee.

The Cachoeira Caldeirão HPP belongs to EDP Energias do Brasil (50%) and CWEI (Brasil) Participações Ltda. (50%), a company wholly owned by China Three Gorges Corporation.
