Commercial Operation start-up of São Manoel HPP's First Gneration Unit

São Paulo, December 28, 2017 - EDP Energias do Brasil S.A. ("EDP" or "Company") (B3: ENBR3) informs its

shareholders and the market in general that the Empresa de Energia São Manoel ("São Manoel HPP") was authorized today by the National Electric Energy Agency ("ANEEL") to begin the commercial operation of its first generation unit

("GU01") with an installed capacity of 175 MW (Physical Guarantee of 159.6 average MW), anticipating by 4 months its commercial operational start-up of the CCEAR (regulated environment agreement energy sale agreement), with established commencing date on May 1st, 2018.

With the Declaration of Commercial Operation (DCO), the energy of the anticipated commercial operation will be sold in the short-term market or may be sold through contracts.

The second generation unit ("GU02"), with installed capacity of 175 MW (Physical Guarantee of 119.8 average MW),

is in advanced stage of testing operation and the other generating units - third and fourth generation units ("GU03"

and "GU04") - are in the commissioning stage to gradually obtain testing and commercial operation.

São Manoel HPP is located at the Teles Pires River, between Mato Grosso and Pará states, with 700 MW of installed capacity and 424.5 average MW of Physical Guarantee.

São Manoel HPP is a partnership between EDP, China Three Gorges Brasil Energia Ltda. and Furnas Centrais Elétrica

S.A., with a one third stake in the project each.
