Anticipation of Commercial Operation Start-up of São Manoel HPP's Second Generation Unit

São Paulo, January 19th, 2018 - EDP Energias do Brasil S.A. ("EDP" or "Company") (B3: ENBR3) informs its shareholders

and the market in general that the Empresa de Energia São Manoel ("São Manoel HPP") was authorized today by the

National Electric Energy Agency ("ANEEL") to begin the commercial operation of its Second Generation Unit with an installed capacity of 175 MW (Physical Guarantee of 119.8 average MW), anticipating by 3.5 months its commercial operational start-up from the CCEAR (regulated environment energy sale agreement), with established commencing date on May 1st, 2018.

With the Declaration of Commercial Operation (DCO), the energy of the anticipated commercial operation will be sold in the short-term market or may be sold through contracts.

The Third Generation Unit, with installed capacity of 175 MW (Physical Guarantee of 88.0 average MW) was authorized by ANEEL to start the test operation and the Fourth Generation Unit, with installed capacity of 175 MW (Physical

Guarantee of 57.1 average MW) is in final stage of assemblage.

São Manoel HPP is located at the Teles Pires River, between Mato Grosso and Pará states, with 700 MW of installed capacity and 424.5 average MW of Physical Guarantee.

São Manoel HPP is a partnership between EDP, China Three Gorges Brasil Energia Ltda. and Furnas Centrais Elétrica

S.A., with a one third stake in the project each.
