Direction the Mauritian-Senegalese border. 10 km from the coast, the Eiffage Genie Civil Marine teams have started a new phase on the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim project for Bp. They are building the LNG mooring and transfer platform that will be installed between the floating liquefied natural gas unit and the LNG carriers that will be loaded to export it.

This mixed steel/concrete platform, whose first slab was recently installed, rests on piles of O 1800 mm installed by our partner Saipem. These piles are interconnected by a metal structure of more than 3,000 t, installed and bolted offshore, on which concrete elements, prefabricated on our yard in Dakar, are installed.

To realize this structure, all the logistics are organized from the yard of Dakar which was used to build the 21 caissons that form the breakwater that will protect the platform. The operations mobilize a fleet of about fifteen ships - one of which hosts the teams - and 3 cargo barges that rotate between the yard and the hub, 125 nautical miles apart. Objective: to transfer the 400 elements that make up this structure and which will then be installed offshore by lifting.

Eiffage Genie Civil Marine has, during this phase of work, reaffirmed its commitment to the local economy. More than 60% of offshore stakeholders are local collaborators, for whom this experience at sea is the first. All were able to benefit from a training program developed and proposed by the project, in order to increase their skills to achieve the expected requirements in terms of prevention, environment and quality on this type of operation.

Congratulations to the teams mobilized at sea for their commitment to deliver this project in the best safety conditions.
